After procrastinating on writing my prologue I finally sat down and typed it out late Saturday night while I listened to the The Who VH1 Rock Honors. I liked Adam Sandlers version of ‘Magic Bus’. Anyway the prologue is done and seems to work. Of course, now about one third of my book just went away, and I’ll have to add about 150 pages of new material, but that’s OK. I can’t call myself a writer then whine about writing, can I? I will have to use some of the deleted back story to explain things later on anyway, but it will all be done briefly in paragraphs instead of pages. I can also flesh out a couple of subplots that needed more meat and do some better character development which is almost always a good thing. I am also considering darkening the tone some as I go through the rewrite since it seemed to be inconsistent as I reread the draft.
